When you first walk up to Gideon’s Bakehouse you will see lots of people in lines around the front door.
The first line you must enter is to the right of the front door, here is where you find out how long of journey it will take to get some Bakehouse cookies. If you agree to the wait you put in your name and number to join the virtual que. When “ Your moment is here!” It is time to join the longer of the two lines to the left of the front door.
Check in with the line attendees at the entrance of the virtual que line to the left of the door. After you enter the line it usually takes 15-20 minutes to get to the door. That gives you plenty of time to read over the menu which they hand you when you check in.
I will say reading this months flavor offerings as you get closer to the door does get you super excited and hungry as you get closer.
When you enter Gideon’s Bakehouse you are greeted with the sweet smell of sugar and chocolate. Your nose has this pleasant aroma although your eyes see a different scene. The walls behind the L - Shaped counter are lined with fake books, statues, and other nick-nacks. The wall to the left is covered with weird big eye drawings of child like people adding to the eerie feel of the place. The wall with the front door has informational signs about restrictions, cost and menu of the cookies, coffee, and cake. The whole room gives you a feeling like you are inside a Nocturn Alley from the Harry Potter book series.
Cookies, Cookies, Cookies! There are several cookie flavors available as well as various cake flavors available. Cakes are made fresh daily and sell out quickly so if you are looking for cake you better go early or head over to Sprinkles just up the street. Every month there is a new flavor cookie to try. When you walk past the case they all look delicious. Your mouth can’t help but water at the 1/2lb cookies.
The first cookie I tried was the Original Chocolate Chip. This soft cookie had chocolate chips in every bite inside and out. There are also big sea salt flakes sprinkled throughout the top of the cookie offering a balance of sweet and salty.
Here is my overall take away of Gideon’s Bakehouse. First of all going to Gideon’s Bakehouse is an experience. The 1/2lb cookie with the creative flavor combinations are defiantly worth the price. They are not however worth a five hour wait. If you do decide to try to visit Gideon’s Bakehouse I would recommend making it your first stop, get on the virtual que and then spend our time at Disney Springs, enjoy the shopping and restaurants and return when when you get the text to check in.
