Tappan Edo is a Japanese Hibachi style restaurant located on the upper level on the Epcot Japan pavilion, above the shops. This restaurant offers entertainment while you dine. We were seated right away with only a few moments wait when we went in December. Sit around the ‘fire’ as chefs prepare and cook your meal before your very eyes at your own family-style flat-top grill table. Each table seat 8-10, so be prepared to make some new dining friends. Start with soup, appetizers and perhaps a little Saki before the show begins. It is truly a one of a kind culinary experience with flare.
We went with our family for dinner one evening and our chef was great. He had lots of style preparing our meals with his knife and spatula. He even made a volcano out of the cut raw onions as he steamed them on the grill. I will always remember the look of sheer excitement on my daughters face watching him. It was a fun dining experience for the whole family. ! I don’t know why some people think that Epcot is an adult park.
Some additional notes to consider about Tappan Edo. If you are on the dining plan, this restaurant takes two meal entitlement credits. Tokyo Dining and Tappan Edo share a reception area. There is an elevator through the shop if you need assistance with stairs.
